Context
Francesco Ciaponi, Graduated in History of printing and publishing at the University of Pisa with a thesis entitled "Mondo Beat: the birth of underground publishing in Italy".
He collaborates with Italian and international magazines such as: The Concern Newstand (USA), Moof Magazine (England), Polpettas Magazine (Spain), Awand and Artribune.
Since 2016 I have been managing the graphics and publishing website Edizioni del Frisco: a small independent publishing house.
I have been managing the publishing house of the same name since 2017, designing and creating books that concern graphic and publishing themes through collaborations with illustrators in Italy and abroad.
Since 2019 I have been a professor of History of Printing and Publishing at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, LABA: Free Academy of Fine Arts of Rimini and since 2020 of Media Phenomenology at LABA Florence.
In 2017 Edizioni del Frisco released the volume The Big Lebowski Art Collection, a collection of illustrations and graphics by 68 illustrators from all over the world inspired by the film of the same name.
In 2018 Costa&Nolan published the essay Underground: the rise and fall of another publishing house on the history of Italian underground magazines in the period 1966-1977.
In 2019, the book Amazing Surf Logos was released for Edizioni del Frisco, a collection of over 250 logos of surfboard manufacturers.
In 2019 the book Jack was released for Goodfellas Edizioni: an illustrated biography, biography of Jack Nicholson.
Since 2019 he has directed the biannual magazine Contexto: magazine of independent publishing and text culture.
